Aldi and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) have recalled two seasonal Choceur Holiday Bark snacks sold across much of the U.S. because the wrong products were packed into the wrong bags, leading to undeclared wheat and pecan allergens that could trigger severe, potentially life‑threatening reactions in people with those allergies.
What was recalled
Two chocolate bark products made by Silvestri Sweets Inc. and sold at Aldi are affected.
- Choceur Cookie Butter Holiday Bark, 5‑ounce bags with the lot number 29225 and “best by” date of May 2026.
- Choceur Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark, 5‑ounce bags with the lot number 29225 and “best by” date of August 2026.
These are limited‑time Christmas/holiday treats distributed to Aldi stores nationwide. Aldi locations in the following states and regions are impacted by this recall: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
Why the snacks are dangerous
During production, the two barks were accidentally packaged into each other’s bags.
- Some Cookie Butter Holiday Bark contains pecans that are not listed on the label, creating an undeclared tree‑nut (pecan) allergen risk.
- Some Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark contains wheat that is not declared on the packaging, posing a risk to those with wheat allergy.
People with wheat or pecan allergies could experience serious or life‑threatening reactions, including anaphylaxis, if they eat these products.
